The time has come to find ourselves a printer! I know, right? I’m sure Kelly would be quite animated about this stage of the journey.
It’s all getting very real. I’m feeling pretty nervous, because, well, let’s face it, this is huge. Kel’s book is soon going to actually be sent off, electronically, to someone with a great big industrial printing machine. And printed! Well, I say soon – don’t expect it to be overnight. It’ll still be a couple of months.
However, it’s super important to do it right NOW because time slots need to be booked, first payments made, and calculations finished! So, although it isn’t quite tomorrow that we’ll all have Kelly’s hardback in our eager, trembling, sweaty little hands, I still find it exciting. Nerve-wracking. Thrilling.
To talk to printers about layout, cover, silk, gloss, gsm, margins, dust covers, spines – all these things that are bringing us closer to having Kelly’s book on our coffee tables. It’s also just so enjoyable to be talking about publishing, printing, binding, and all the things I was involved with so many moons ago in a previous life.
And to be reawakening this side of me in the name of making Kelly’s book a reality is more of an honour than words can say.
